Translation Projects
Create and manage translation projects, upload files and run translations.
Overview
A translation project is the main container for your work. Each project has a source language, a target language and one or more files to translate.
Creating a project
Navigate to Translations in your organization dashboard and click New Project.
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | A descriptive name (e.g. "Mobile App v2.3 — Spanish") |
| Source language | The language your content is currently in |
| Target language | The language you want to translate into |
| Context | Optional instructions for the AI — tone, domain, terminology |
The context field is especially useful for specialized content. For example: "This is a medical device manual. Use formal register and preserve all regulatory terminology."
Project statuses
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
Draft | Project created, no translations started yet |
Translating | A translation job is currently running |
Reviewing | Translations are complete and ready for review |
Completed | All segments reviewed and approved |
Archived | Project archived for reference |
Uploading files
Click Upload File inside a project to add XLIFF files. Each file is parsed into segments automatically. See File Formats for details on supported versions and placeholder handling.
You can upload multiple files to the same project. Each file tracks its own progress independently.
Running translations
You have two options:
- Translate All — translates every pending segment across all files
- Translate Selected — select specific segments first, then translate only those
Before starting, you'll choose an AI model and see the estimated credit cost. See AI Models for a comparison.
Deduplication
If your files contain identical source text in multiple segments, Localizia detects the duplicates and translates them only once. The result is applied to all matching segments, saving you credits.
Progress tracking
Translation progress is updated in real time, per unit. You can see how many segments have been processed on the project page while a job is running.
Translation jobs
Each time you start a translation, a job is created. Jobs track:
- Total and processed segments
- Credits consumed
- AI model used
- Status (pending, processing, completed, failed)
You can view the job history on the project page.
Exporting
Once you're done reviewing, click Export on any file to download the translated XLIFF. The exported file preserves the original structure, including placeholders and formatting tags.
