Credits
How the credit system works — buying, consuming and tracking your translation credits.
Overview
Credits are the currency of Localizia. Instead of paying a monthly subscription, you buy credit packages and spend them when you translate. Credits never expire.
When you create your first organization, you receive 1,000 welcome credits to test the platform with real translations.
Buying credits
Credits are available in three packages:

Larger packages include bonus credits, making them more cost-effective. Payments are processed securely via Stripe.
To buy credits, go to Settings → Billing in your organization dashboard.
How credits are consumed
Each translation consumes credits based on two factors:
- Text length — longer texts use more credits
- AI model — premium models cost more per token
The cost is calculated from input tokens (your source text) and output tokens (the translation):

Cost estimation
Before starting any translation, you'll see an estimated credit cost. This is calculated from the character count of your source text and the model you selected. The actual cost may vary slightly depending on the AI's response length.
Deduplication savings
If your files contain identical source text across multiple segments, Localizia detects the duplicates and translates them only once. The result is applied to all matching segments, so you only pay for unique content.
Credit balance
Your credit balance belongs to your organization, not your personal account. All members of an organization share the same credit pool.
The balance tracks:
- Current balance — credits available right now
- Lifetime purchased — total credits bought
- Lifetime used — total credits consumed by translations
Transaction history
Every credit operation is logged in a transaction ledger. You can view the full history in Settings → Billing, including:

Each transaction shows the amount, resulting balance, and for usage transactions, the AI model and token counts.
Tips
- Start with the welcome credits to test the platform before buying
- Buy the Pro package for the best per-credit value (15% bonus)
- Use budget models like Gemini 2.5 Flash-Lite or GPT-5.4 Nano for simple content to stretch your credits further
- Monitor your usage in the billing dashboard to plan purchases
